I completed my undergraduate degree at Bethel College in Arden Hills, as a Registered Nurse (RN). I specialized in Surgical Intensive Care (SICU), Labor and Delivery (LD), and developed and lead two infusion clinics for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) patients. I worked with Veterans at the VA hospital in San Diego. Working with Veterans opened up the opportunity for me to assist patients with various degrees of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) throughout their medical stay.

I completed my graduate degree at Adler graduate school in Richfield Minnesota, in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT).  I have found that there is an advantage to understanding the physical body from the medical viewpoint and how mind,
body, and soul are interconnected. Connection of mind, body, and soul allows for a well-rounded and holistic approach to therapy, which I offer with my medical background as well as my psychotherapy education and experience. My license and training as a LMFT are unique in that I do not consider problems to be isolated to the individual but will take into account the fact that individual problems affect the whole family and that family problems affect each individual member.

MFT’s view the family as a group of individuals who are interconnected, an organized network of interlocking relationships that fit together to function as a whole. It is my goal to look at the whole picture of the family in order to provide clients with the most comprehensive therapeutic services available and the best possible outcomes.

I have experience working with clients’ dual diagnoses, recovery from addiction, codependency, relational trauma, PTSD, marital problems, anxiety and depression. I have provided adult rehabilitative mental health services by instructing and assisting as well as supporting the client in areas such as: individual and family therapy, interpersonal communication skills, community resource utilization and integration skills, crisis assistance, relapse prevention skills, health care directives, development of extensive mental health care plans, and development of healthy lifestyle skills. I am also a mother of six children within a blended family system. I personally understand what it is like to walk through the stages of raising children from infancy through the launching off stage as well blending a large family.

I would welcome the opportunity to come along side you through your personal journey and to be a part of the important changes you may choose to make during these challenging times. I believe that addressing the "whole person" is crucial in order to have a successful therapeutic outcome. The assessment of how an individual is functions in their roles at work, in love relationships, in community (family and friends), in personal care and spirituality allows for a holistic and collaborative therapeutic approach.

I provide psychotherapy services to individuals, multi-family systems, couples, and adolescents. My specialty is working with families, couples, individuals, teens, and children affected by divorce, codependency, addiction, abuse, and relational trauma. My primary treatment modality is based on Pia Mellody's Post Induction Treatment (PIT) model. Pia Mellody's Post Induction Treatment Model (PIT) addresses relational trauma, PIT provides re-parenting tools, psycho--education, and experiential processes for healing. PIT can transform your life as well as the life of loved ones! Other modalities used include; Alfred Adler Individual Therapy, Bowen Family Systems theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Experiential therapy. Other therapeutic tools incorporated into my therapy practice include Brainspotting, Couples Boundary training, and premarital counseling techniques learned as part of the Prepared/Enriched certification.
