Hedy has worked 35+ years with individuals and couples, helping them overcome barriers to achieving the life they want to live.
Hedy began her work in 1986 working with alcoholics/drug addicts and their partners.

In 1999, after realizing that childhood trauma is at the root of most addictions, Hedy focused on receiving training and certifications in trauma-based treatment.

Hedy is PIT trained, having completed Pia Melody's Post Induction Trainings 3 separate times over 15 years (Pia Mellody - author of "Facing Love Addiction", "Facing Codependence", "The Intimacy Factor"). Hedy trained in Pia's model of "developmental immaturity" and her premise "that childhood trauma is the origin of developmental immaturity". Hedy has completed all four trainings offered by Pia Mellody (The Meadows) and participated regularly in case consultations with Pia Mellody.

In 2000, Hedy received her certification in Sex Addiction (CSAT) under the auspices of Patrick Carnes, PhD. (The Meadows). Hedy has continued/updated her training in sex addiction (currently through IITAP) (ASAT). In 2013 Hedy also received her certification as a Multiple Addiction Therapist (AMAT) offered by IITAP. She has also completed the certification of Partner Trauma Therapist under IITAP.  Hedy is in training with ITAP for Certified Couples Betrayal Recovery Therapist. 

Over the past 15 years, Hedy has deepened her work with couples through Terry Real's Relational Life Institute.  Hedy is an RLI Facilitator, RLI Bootcamp Leader, and Certified Couples Therapist.

RLT is an approach that is supported by neuroscience and evidence–based outcomes. Founded by the long-time successful couples' therapist, and author, Terry Real.

RLT emphasizes the importance of interpersonal relationships and how early relationships with caregivers shape attachment styles and patterns of relating to ourselves and others throughout our lives.

RLT differs from traditional, talk therapy and standard marriage counseling approaches. RLT involves a relational discovery process that brings to light the unsuccessful patterns and stances, where many couples find themselves stuck; unconsciously. Then we get to the roots of how these stances came to be. RLT gets to the heart of the matter.

Hedy is an Enmeshment Preferred Provider with Ken Adams’ (IITAP),
also Certified with ICF, and is a CADC with IODAPCA - State of Illinois.
