My Website

My goal as a therapist is, first and foremost, to create a safe space where you will feel heard and appreciated. Your unique strengths, and the complexity of your personal story, will be honored. My approach with clients is collaborative and detail-oriented. I will take the time to truly understand who you are: your strengths, needs and values, so I can make sure that my counseling is uniquely tailored to you.

What I bring to the table: my own experiences/challenges with relationships and dating, as well as (gratefully) my current relationship with my husband and kids; my own career evolution that led me from an MFA in Creative Writing in San Francisco, to being a therapist in Nashville. My own struggles with self-esteem and not recognizing my value, as well as bouts of anxiety and insomnia, and reaching out for help.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider designation (LPC-MHSP #4887) in the state of Tennessee. I have an MS in Counseling from San Francisco State University, an MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University and a BA in English from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY.

I incorporate a variety of modalities into my therapy, with my main focuses being Healing Our Core Issues, EMDR, and Emotionally-Focused Therapy. I believe it's important to get to the root of issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-worth, perfectionism, and emotional reactivity (that feels uncontrollable and out of proportion to the situation). These issues are complex and require more than a laundry list of coping skills. Looking back at our upbringing and how we learned to adapt in early relationships can help us make sense of our current behaviors. The "Healing Our Core Issues" model offers an experiential process for understanding where we've come from, and how to have more fulfilling relationships in the present-day, with both others and ourselves.

On a personal note, I live on the East side of town, where I enjoy playing soccer with my two little boys, writing and illustrating stories, and attending live music with my husband.
